Why Join or Create a Mastermind Group

If you are not part of a mastermind group, I highly, highly recommend you join, or form one:

One of the very first things I knew I had to do after arriving in Bangalore was to join or form a mastermind group. I attended a meetup that was called ‘Mastermind’, but it was not the format of a mastermind group I was looking for. I was looking for a Mastermind Group that was more intimate, where there was professional commonality, people I could brainstorm with, collaborate without concern, team players.

I was fortunate to have met a couple of individuals, who I felt would be great people to be in a mastermind, with a week or so of first meeting we had formed our mastermind group with 4 members. These were all new contacts that I had met at other local meetup groups. The impact was immediate!

So, why join or form a Mastermind Group?

The Brain That Created The Problem is Unlikely to Solve It!

Some people struggle with this concept, as their ego is immediately challenged: Your brain can’t solve a problem it created. If it could, it would have, or never created the problem in the first place. However, there is good news, there is a simple, yet very powerful way to manifest solutions, and that is by being part of a Mastermind Group. A mastermind will help you leverage the brain power and experience of others.

Your Board of Directors

When you join or create a mastermind group you immediately create a board of directors that can save you time, money, and accelerate your results. You can tap into their brainpower, and often find it is the quickest way to get your questions answered.

A Must for Anyone In Business Large or Small

If you are in business for yourself, or you hold a senior position in a company, it is a MUST to be part of the Mastermind Group, if you want to continue to strive!

Think ‘Together’ And Grow Rich

For the longest time I was not in a mastermind group. My life started to change when I joined a Mastermind group in early 2010. It was an amazing group of super successful people. The name most associate with the Mastermind concept is Napolean Hill. In 1937, Napoleon Hill, in his classic book “Think and Grow Rich”, first talked about Mastermind groups and essentially gave this concept a name. Every successful person I know has, and is, part of a mastermind group. Historically many met socially, or on the golf course, and in the early days it was in private smoke clubs, or elite membership clubs… and even if they did not know it, or name it, they were masterminding. I think a better and more accurate book title should have been ‘Think Together, Take Action & Grow Rich’.

What Is A Mastermind Group

A Mastermind Group is two or more people coming together with a common vision and in the spirit of harmony, truth. Group members came together, each with a clear understanding of the other’s personal agendas.

According to my friend and Expert Mastermind Trainer, Thomas Magnum, the 3 Keys to a Real Mastermind Group are:

1. Two or more people come together with a common cause

2. In the spirit of harmony and

3. Are present for each other

Napoleon Hill explains that when these elements are in place, a third mastermind is created. People refer to it as ‘mastermind magic’ or ‘the mastermind phenomena’. Once you attend a mastermind you quickly realize it is like no other average meeting.

Think about it. Have you ever been in a situation with other like-minded people, centered around a cause, in a spirit of harmony and been fully present? Some people have experienced that type of connection and purpose in only life or death situations.

When it’s all said and done, they find that there was a moment when something else took over. The group was stronger together than the individual people. The participants came away with far more value then they participated. Where did the extra value come from?

The Meta-Physics of Group Consciousness

Quantum physics (or meta-physics – greater than the physics we can fully comprehend) can clearly demonstrate that everything is energy, and that when two or more people come together with a common, unifying cause, in the spirit of harmony to truly be of service and are completely present (listening with focused intention), then consciousness and awareness is raised, allowing for abundance to manifest.

Accountability

When you are in business for yourself, or even in senior management, or pursuing your own dreams, you are more or less your own boss, which has it’s pros… and cons! One of the main reasons people fail in business or do not live up to their potential is that no one if holding them accountable for getting things done. Mastermind group members can hold you accountable and help you stay on track.

Start or Join Your Mastermind Today

If you have read this far, take the first steps to joining and forming your mastermind:

• Determine your reasons why you want to join.
• Think about the type of people you want in your Mastermind Group (remember the law of attraction, don’t leave it all to chance, be clear with your needs)
• If you don’t know of a mastermind group, call up 2 or 3 people you know and form one.
• Set a date and time, and invite your potential members
• At the first meeting, set out the parameters and agreements of your group.
• Remember, you primary purpose is to give… you do the giving, and allow the process to give back.
• When it’s your turn to discuss your needs, be specific, bring up one barrier or objective at a time, learn to ask the right questions, so that your mastermind group can help you answer your questions.
